YVAN - CURRY & PAXTON SUNGLASSES - DARK TORTOISE SHELL
Curry & Paxton made precision lenses and ophthalmic instruments since the Victorian era here in Britain. We've all seen Curry & Paxton before the glasses worn by Maurice Micklewhite whilst in character for the Harry Palmer film trilogy.
The provenance was confirmed by Ipcress File writer Len Deighton as the Yvan original model went up for auction at Christies in London recently. Perhaps no coincidence Len also sported Curry & Paxton- not a lot of people know that.
Maurice's (a.k.a Michael Caine) South Londons answer to 007 was far more approachable than the international Martini swigging Bond. He wore glasses for a start and in our opinion the glasses made the Harry Palmer character. Two years after The Billion Dollar Brain -Maurice simply added coloured lenses to the Yvan style for his role in The Italian job. So after a 51 year sabbatical Curry & Paxton is back, and we are very pleased to be stocking three great styles from the range-
